Meet the Author

I’m Nyx. I believe that every reader should be able to see themselves as the hero of a story, regardless of their physical ability or identity. I write stories for people who want to see a hero who isn’t the strongest in the room or those who think “that story was a little too straight.”

Over the last year, I have been working on several novels centered around queer characters with chronic illnesses and/or disabilities after receiving my own diagnosis from the Mayo Clinic in 2025.

I have spent most of my life in and around the Chicagoland area, loving the city while appreciating the space of the suburbs. I live with my fiancé, four cats (sharing one brain cell), and a bratwurst-shaped dog who is half dachshund / half pitbull. I adore exploring museums or starting a new craft (that I’ll totally finish).

Receiving my diagnosis of a myriad of health issues has forced me to live a very different lifestyle than I did for the first three decades of my life. Some days I use a cane, others I may use a walker, and on the luckiest days I can manage without a mobility aid. I often need some kind of braces to help keep my joints in place or compression wear to help with day-to-day symptoms.

I am proudly neurodiverse and always excited to talk about my latest hyperfixations.

This past spring I was fortunate enough to attend the McCormack Writing Center’s (formerly TinHouse) 2026 YA workshop, where I worked with Aiden Thomas.
